Blarg fighters were standard-issue starfighters that were used primarily by Drek's Blarg army. They were developed by scientists at the Blarg Depot on Gaspar alongside the Pilot's Helmet, which allowed the pilot to control the fighter using only their mind. Ratchet and Clank found a Pilot's Helmet on Gaspar, and piloted several Blarg Fighters across the Solana Galaxy.
Later, at the Gemlik Base orbiting Oltanis, Ratchet and Clank acquired a different, more high-tech Blarg Fighter. Unlike the standard model, this one did not require a Pilot's Helmet to use, and it was also much faster.
Various Blarg Fighters were seen in Ratchet & Clank, but no class names were given for any of them. At the start of the game, Clank acquired a very small, one-seated brown fighter to escape from Quartu. On Gaspar and at Batalia, an almost identical fighter was seen with an orange color scheme. At Orxon, Pokitaru and Drek's Fleet, a small bulbous fighter was seen with a pair of lasers hanging out from underneath the hull. At the Gemlik Base, an orange starfighter slightly different from the craft Ratchet flew in the level attacked Ratchet during his chase after Captain Qwark.
[edit] Trivia
- Two different Blarg Fighters appeared in Ratchet & Clank. The standard model was seen on Pokitaru, at the Gemlik Base and Drek's Fleet, and the sleek purple model that Ratchet and Clank acquired on the Gemlik Base was used until the end of the game. Since no official name was given for the second fighter, they were both simply referred to as "Blarg Fighters".
