Docent 427, also known as the Tourbot, was a robotic tour guide for the Intergalactic Museum of History.

History[]

Before Into the Nexus[]

Following Ratchet and Clank's defeat of Percival Tachyon, the Dimensionator was left inoperable and eventually moved to the Museum of Intergalactic History as an exhibit piece. When Neftin Prog and Vendra Prog learned of this, they made a ploy to break in and steal it, and use it in their plans to bring the Nethers into this dimension. The twins managed to abduct one of the museum's tourbots and planned on using it's authorizations to bypass the defenses. Docent 427 was then kept at Neftin's Hideout on planet Thram. The Progs however did not ultimately go through with this plan and instead used a number of kidnapped Terachnoids to build a counterfeit Dimensionator, which would be sufficient in opening portals to the Netherverse.

Into the Nexus[]

Neftin Prog's Hideout

Neftin gives Docent 427 to Ratchet and Clank at his hideout.

When Vendra and Neftin were betrayed by the Nethers and their leader - Mr. Eye, Vendra was trapped inside the Netherverse and Neftin forged a desperate alliance with Ratchet and Clank to save his sister. With Vendra being their only hope of banishing the Nethers again, the three met at the Progs' hideout on Thram and Neftin explained their course of action. He gave Ratchet and Clank Docent 427 and instructed them to use him in stealing the original Dimensionator from the museum, which Neftin would be able to briefly get working, use to free Vendra and send the Nethers back to their dimension.

Meet up with Tal

Ratchet carries Docent 427 with his wrench to the musuem entrance.

To reach the Dimensionator, Ratchet and Clank traversed the museum with Docent 427 acting as a tour guide and used him to open doors throughout the building. On the way there, he provided information about the various exhibits on display. As he had been in storage at the Progs' hideout for so long, Docent 427's historical records were slightly out of date and were updated with information of Cronk and Zephyr's deaths. Docent 427 guided Ratchet and Clank through the museum's Natural History Wing, Solana Galactorium, Hall of Villainy and Groovitron Experience room, before finally reaching the Dimensionator in the Lombax History Wing. Upon then reaching the gift shop, Docent 427 concluded the tour and departed back to the museum entrance again.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Docent 427 was about the same size as Clank, with a grey metal body, a red antennae on his head and a single cyan eye. He wore a red bowtie and a pin featuring the museum's logo. On the side of his frame sat a permanently fixed head microphone for projecting his voice to patrons. He did not have legs and traveled using a hover propulsion from his base. He had two arms with three digits on each hand, and when speaking would often hold his left arm behind his back.

Personality[]

As his name suggests, Docent 427 is number four hundred and twenty-seven in the line of Docent robots, which act as guides and educators. He did not seem to acknowledge things outside of his job as a tour guide and did not speak at all when outside of the museum. He would always maintain a professional demeanor and perform his tour guide duties with great enthusiasm.

Behind the scenes[]

Docent 427 was voiced by David Kaye, who also voices Clank, Klunk and Stone Stonefield, among several other characters.
