The Hacker Ray was a portable Hacker device used by Ratchet's DreadZone combat bots, Merc and Green, and by Ratchet and his partner in co-op mode. The device was used to unlock security orbs in order for Ratchet to advance, where it shot out an electrical beam at the orb which had to be maintained for roughly 5 seconds for the orb to be unlocked. The Shield Link could be used to protect the person using it.
