The Blowtorch Briefcase is a weapon in Secret Agent Clank. As its name suggests, it is a flamethrower that is contained within a briefcase. The Blowtorch Briefcase is found during "Crashing the Party", in the secret laboratory on Venantonio by Clank. It can be upgraded up to the Hellfire Haversack at V4 with use, with more damage and a larger range. Purchasing the Molten Bolt Mod in challenge mode allows the weapon to fire a ball of flame after releasing the trigger. Challenge mode also has the Proto Hellfire Haversack upgrade available for purchase at only 50,000 bolts.

History[]

The Blowtorch Briefcase was created in the Venantonio laboratories as Experiment #24: Suitcase Flamethrower.[1] It was a Tremendi briefcase outfitted with a Megacorp Portable Rocket Engine 2000, allowing it to dispense searing hot fuel which ignited instantly upon reacting to air around it.[2]

The Hellfire Haversack was an experimental flamethrower with an improved intake valve and tweaked aerosol formula, allowing the jets and fireballs emitted to burn longer and hotter.[3]

Gameplay[]

Blowtorch Briefcase gameplay.

The Blowtorch Briefcase is a flamethrower that has a close to short range, with low damage. It also intermittently spits out small embers that set enemies on fire. It is therefore only really useful against closer-up enemies, particularly to mow down smaller ones. The weapon is mostly ineffective against flying or longer range enemies. Its ammo also never increases above 30, further limiting the weapon.

At V4, the weapon upgrades to the Hellfire Haversack, which has a significantly larger range and more damage, making it a solid weapon in a fight. Purchasing the Molten Bolt Mod causes the weapon to shoot a fireball after the trigger is released, allowing it to be more versatile as it is effective at a longer range. However, since the weapon cannot be aimed and lacks a reticule, effective use of the mod remains limited to using it to blast enemies up close to avoid a miss.
