Horny Toads were wild creatures that dwell on the planet Veldin and had large horns on their heads. Their skin and horns were the same color brown as the ground, camouflaging them to some extent. They were the first enemies Ratchet encountered in the original Ratchet & Clank game. Their behavior was very much like that of the Sandsharks of planet Aridia or the Alien Swarmers of the Blarg Research Station. Like their counterparts on the Blarg Station, their speed combined with their random motion paths made them slightly hard to hit. However, they were still one of the weakest enemies in the game.
The actual name for the creature was revealed by Bob of Pokitaru, when he commented on how fast he had upgraded Clank with the Thruster-Pack.
