A hoverboard was a popular mode of travel for teenagers. So popular in fact, that hoverboarding was an accepted sport. the magazine Hover Boarder was written about Hoverboards.
The Hoverboard tournaments were held in Blackwater City and were won repeatedly by champion Skid McMarx. However, in the events of Ratchet & Clank, he sprained his ankle after crashing on planet Aridia and it was Ratchet who won the race, using the Hoverboard Z3000 that Skidd had given him, earning the Platinum Zoomerator. Eventually, Ratchet would keep both.
