The Insomniac Moon was the Insomniac Museum of Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time. The Insomniac Moon could be unlocked after the player completed Challenge Mode, gotten all 40 Zoni, and defeated Lord Vorselon. It could then be accessed from the Galactic Map.

The Moon is different from all other Insomniac Museums because it's the biggest. Fans have complained that they layout is too confusing, consisting mostly of cubilces. The Insomniac Moon contained everything that almost went into the game, but was taken out for various reasons. Some of them include:

  • A maze originally a trap on the Nefarious Space Station. The player would have to fire a Time Bomb at the center to slow down deadly tiles and find a pathway safe enough to walk across. This is much more difficult than it sounds, and players had too much challenge overcoming it (so much so that a few of them swore at Insomniac and threw things at them) so it was removed.
  • Teleporter moons. Instead of running into the occasional moon with a gold bolt or Zoni or other various collectable, moons were full of teleporters leading to teleporters leading to more teleporters. Obviously, this was confusing as the player could not keep track of which teleporter he came from and which one he needed to get to, so they were simplified.
  • At the Battleplex Arena, there was a deathtrap generator intended to generate a random timed challenge in which the player would have to reach the finish line before time runs out. It was simply impossible to create a random deathtrap every time someone chose the challenge, so it had to be removed.
  • The Stellar Leviathan, a close relative to the Basilisk Leviathan encountered in Tools of Destruction. It was supposed to attack the character in space combat.

All of this and many more are in the Insomniac Moon (like weapons that never made it). Perhaps the biggest thing of all that appears in the Moon is the peaceful Krell Canyon.

After the player saved Krell Canyon from Agorians, it was supposed to be a peaceful place where Ratchet could talk to Vullards and compelete secret missions in exchange for Zoni. Because Lumos was just too big, the game programmers couldn't add any more to the level because is was too overpacked.
