Blarg Capitalization

The way the Ratchet & Clank wiki capitalizes words has changed; therefore, this article should be checked, and, if necessary, capitalization should be fixed.
For more information, see the new capitalization policy.

Walkthrough

Escape Tachyon's Forces

To avoid of being vaporized by Tachyon's minions, the Smuggler has ejected you from his ship! The level starts with a HALO jump. (If you skipped the cutscene, you may encounter a glitch and simply fall from the Smuggler's ship.) Use SIXAXIS or the left analog stick, depending on your control scheme to evade the rockets. Moving in a circular pattern is most effective. After you touch down, you can upgrade your weapons and max out your ammo at the weapon vendor. You should return to Stratus City after you have beaten the level once to try for the Wrench Ninja 3 skill point. This way, the more powerful enemies will be gone. The Predator Launcher is now available for purchase, and this is useful early-on, so do not wait to buy it. If you cleaned out Cobalia, you should have enough bolts for it. The vendor will also give you Nanotech for free every time you use it (you do not even have to buy anything), so your damage from the HALO jump will be healed. There is a jackpot crate on the right, but do not smash it yet. Some Drophyds will drop in. These guys are weak, so really anything will work: Predator Launcher, Plasma Beasts, Fusion Grenade. The Predator Launcher is probably the fastest and easiest way—just hold R1 to lock onto a bunch of Drophyds and release to kill, no aiming needed. Be sure to strafe by holding down L2. Return to the vendor if you run out of ammo. Go back and smash the jackpot crate, then go up the stairs and smash the Raritanium chests to the left of the top of the stairs. Continue on to see a TV with Tachyon spreading propaganda about a Ratchet's "horrendous" crimes. A Drophyd Transport Ship will drop in more Drophyds. These Drophyds are shielded, so you need a powerful weapon to take them down. The Fusion Grenade is the best choice, but be sure to catch multiple Drophyds in each blast. When you run out of ammo, use the Predator Launcher. It should take two or three Predator missiles to down a shielded Drophyd. Continue to see a TV. To the left of the TV is a lower area with a lot of crates and a device vendor. Head towards the huge stack of crates to the right of the TV (not in the lower area).

Kortog secret passage

The secret passage to the Raritanium chest under the stairs

As soon as you approach the huge stack of crates in your path, a Drophyd Cyclocannon will burst through it and attack. This guy is powerful, but he is pretty simple to defeat if you know how. He will turn back and forth, rapid-firing lasers. Do not move—stay in one spot, and lob fusion grenades at him. When the lasers come towards you, jump, and then keep firing back. If you are having trouble, or you want to see a Cyclocannon get down and boogie, toss a Groovitron near him (head back to the device vendor if you need one). For your efforts, you will get two rewards: some Raritanium and the Shock Ravager. The Shock Ravager's electricity can get behind Drophyd shields, and it also shocks enemies nearby to the one you hit, so that it is great for groups of enemies. The bridge to the next circular room will be blasted as you approach it, so be careful. Continue across the damaged bridge. There more shielded Drophyds on the other side (an entire group of these is a two hit kill with the Shock Ravager) and a Cyclocannon. Use a Groovitron if you need one, but use the strategy described earlier. Before heading up the stairs, head to the right of the base of the staircase to find a passage under the staircase and some Raritanium chests at the end of the passage. Go up the stairs and some more Drophyds will drop in. You will also find some Drophyd Gunships. To get the Surface-to-Air Plasma Beasts skill point, kill the first two gunships with your Plasma Beasts. Finish off the Drophyds and head toward the zip line. Kill the last gunship with a plasma beast to get the skill point. Jump up to grab hold of the zip line and sail down the long cable to the platform below, where you are introduced to another one of your numerous neat gadgets: the Swingshot. Jump toward the versa-target and hold R1 (or PlayStationCircle) to latch onto the target and swing over to the platform. If you fall, there is ground below and a ladder back up. The next versa-target is blue. These versa-targets will pull you in instead of letting you swing. Use it to get to the next platform. Wait for a yellow transport with a green versa-target on its bottom. Jump toward it and hold the fire button. Do not let go—Ratchet will automatically drop from the versa-target when you are above the right platform.

Swing through the Docks

Kortog transport

Latch onto this yellow transport with your Swingshot to escape

You will be dropped onto some docks. Refill you ammo and Nanotech at the vendor, and you will find another Cyclocannon and a Drophyd gunship waiting for you. This gunship shoots bombs instead of lasers, so jump over the blasts. If you are running low on Nanotech, head beck to the vendor to heal yourself. Up ahead are more versa targets. Swing across. On the other side of the versa-target path you will be attacked by some bomber gunships. Take them out with whatever you like, but use Plasma Beasts if you still do not have the skill point. Continue to the wall with the ledges jump towards them to hold on, then traverse the ledge by moving the left analog stick to move and PlayStationCross to jump up the ledges. Turn to the left when you reach the top and head down the stairs made by the boxes to a secret area with some crates and a Raritanium chest. Climb back up and destroy the gunship and two Drophyds. Do not step on the blue force field on the ground—it will shock you. A Cyclocannon will appear as you approach the wall jump slot on the opposite side of the platform, so take him out too. Wall jump up the slot, then swing across the gap with the Swingshot. The versa-targets here move, so keep that in mind. Kill the tesladrones with a whip from the Shock Ravager, and smash the crates on the left to reveal a gelatonium pump. Fill your Gelanator with PlayStationTriangle and use a gel cube to jump on top of the huge metal boxes to your right. Head to the far left end of the boxes where you see a Raritanium chest atop a huge sack of boxes. Get up the boxes with a gel cube and smash the chest.
Kortog secret area

Head down these staris to the left of where you emerge from the ledges for a Raritanium chest

Go back to the main platform and at the end thereof you will see a glowing gel cube symbol. Use a gel cube to jump up this shaft, and use the moving versa-targets to swing across the gap. You will end up on a circular platform with three buttons called tri-pads. Instead of using the tri-pads to activate the bridge, pump a three-shot gel cube onto the part of the platform nearest to the next dock. Jump on the gel cube and glide to the next platform to get the We Don't Need No Stinkin' Bridges! skill point. Kill the Drophyds and gunships here, then explore the stacks of metal boxes with the aid of the gel cubes from your Gelanator. Smash all of the crates and Raritanium chests you find, then head to the stack of crates on the far right corner where there is a zip line. Use the zip line to get to another platform. Smash the crates and swingshot across to the next platform.

Fly to the Hall of Knowledge

After a cutscene, you can now take flight with the new Robo-Wings the Zoni gave Clank form any Launch Pad. Step on the launch pad ahead of you and press PlayStationTriangle to launch the Robo-Wings. The wings are controlled via SIXAXIS. Tilt the controller up to fly up, left to fly left, and so on. Press PlayStationCross to flap the wings and gain altitude. Follow the Zoni, flying through the glowing purple rings. If you miss a ring, you will be forced to restart. If you hit a building, wall, or another object, the wings will also deactivate and you will die. If you fail enough times, you will be given the option to use the conventional analog control instead. (You can also do this in the options menu.) When you reach the end of the path, press PlayStationTriangle to deactivate the wings.

Explore the Hall of Knowledge

Kortog gold bolt

Looking from the yellow ledges, the small room with the gold bolt is on the right. The room has been highlighted yellow to show its location more easily

You have finally arrived at the Hall of Knowledge, but why have the Zoni led you here? You might want to check out that classified information Tachyon is so worried that you will find. If you want to clear out planet Kortog in one visit, skip down to the Explore Stratus City section. Otherwise, continue. Max out your ammo and heal at the vendor. Smash the crates on the left and jump in the water. Use the left analog stick to swim, PlayStationSquare to dive, PlayStationCross to ascend, and R1 to engage the Hydro-pack to move faster. Swim through this pool, avoiding the underwater mines, and use the Hydro-pack if you want. Jump out the other side of the pool, and smash the crates. Proceed, and destroy the Cyclocannon that drops in. (The two nearby boxes can be used for cover.) The next room is circular and completely flooded with water. There are three small rooms around the edges of the pool, each with a tri-pad. Activate these three tri-pads to open a passage on the bottom of the room, underwater. Avoid the mines in the pool, and use your Hydro-pack (R1), otherwise the tri-pads will deactivate before you activate the next one. After opening the passage, head through it, avoiding the mines. You will emerge in a room with some tesladrones, so kill them with the Shock Ravager. Smash the crates on the right and head into the room up ahead. This room is also flooded, but there is a bolt crank in the middle of it, and jellyfish in the water. Before turning the crank, dive into the water. (Do not worry, the jellyfish do not hurt you.) There are some crates and a Raritanium chest underwater, which can be smashed by setting off the explosive crates. Touch the explosive crate to activate its countdown, then swim away so you will not be caught in the blast. Head to the surface and turn the bolt crank. The bolt crank will activate a sonic device that will cause the jellyfish to start moving around. To the left of the bolt crank is a ledge and a jellyfish at its base. (See the picture above.) High jump off the jellyfish and you should be able to grab the ledge(This can be difficult the easy option is to use the Gelanator to make a gel bounce ledge between the jelly fish and the ledge, you will bounce up onto the plat form). Jump up and collect the gold bolt. In front of the bolt crank are a set of yellow ledges. Jump on a moving jellyfish and use it to get to the ledges. At the top of the ledges is a tube. Go into it and stop at the edge. There is another tube just ahead with a Raritanium chest in it. Be sure to get this right, because you only have one chance at it unless you return to the level later: double jump (or long jump) across to the Raritanium chest. Smash it and jump down. A lot of Drophyds will appear, along with some Drophyd gunships. Blast them with your Fusion Grenades, and use the Predator Missiles after you run out of ammo. (If you lob a grenade in between two Drophyds, you will damage both.) After the fight you will trigger a cutscene, and our heroes will blast off to Fastoon in a Escape Pod.

Explore Stratus City

This mission requires you to find both of the gold bolts in Stratus City and the one Holo-plan. Take off from a launch pad and fly to the space with two launch pads close to each other on a circular, ring shaped building on your map. On this ring shaped building is a gold bolt and a Raritanium chest, so find both. Take off from one of the lanuch pads on the ring shaped building and fly to the diamond shaped building south of the ring shaped building with a launch pad on it. Land at the launch pad. Follow the path to the left, smashing all of the crates. The Holo-plan is inside the stack of crates after the room with the tesladrones. If you have already gotten the gold bolt in the Hall of Knowledge (it is covered in the Explore the Hall of Knowledge mission walkthrough above) skip this one. Fly to the Hall of Knowledge entrance. Go through the hall until you reach the flooded room with the jellyfish and the bolt crank. To the left of the bolt crank is a ledge and a jellyfish at its base. High jump off the jellyfish and you should be able to grab the ledge. Jump up and collect the gold bolt.
