The Lancer was the Megacorp version of Gadgetron's Blaster, which had set the base for the starter weapons that repeatedly appeared in the Ratchet & Clank games. The Lancer fired a semi-fast continuous stream of energy bolts that damaged enemies. In Going Commando, Ratchet used the Lancer in several cut scenes. It upgraded to the Heavy Lancer and during replay mode, if an upgrade was bought, it upgraded again into the Mega Heavy Lancer.

[edit] Upgrades
If the player used the Lancer against all enemies up to and including the first boss on Oozla, it upgraded to the Heavy Lancer after that boss has been defeated.
Oddly, if the Lancer hasn't upgraded to the Heavy Lancer by the time the player defeated the thief, Ratchet still used the Heavy lancer to rescue the Protopet.
Captain Starshield seemed to have been used a modified version of the Lancer when he was a gladiator in DreadZone. At one point Ratchet attempted to shoot Ace Hardlight with a white Lancer.
The Acid mod and Lock-on mod were available at Slim Cognito's platinum bolt weapon modification shop.
[edit] Trivia
- The name 'Lancer' also comes from a name of a car modelled by Mitsubishi Motors.
