Mega weapons were available in Challenge Mode. They could be bought at vendors after the weapon was fully upgraded to V5 (V10 in Deadlocked). Mega weapons could be upgraded to Ultra weapons or Giga weapons depending on the manufacturer. Mega weapons gave more power and ammo to weapons.

The old Gadgetron weapons from Ratchet & Clank were also available as Mega weapons in Going Commando but could not be upgraded to Ultra weapons. Likewise, the old MegaCorp weapons from Going Commando; however, in the next installment they enjoyed full upgradability.

In Going Commando, the Mega Weapons (with the exception of Gadgetron pullovers) upgraded to Ultra. In Up Your Arsenal, the Mega upgraded Giga first, then Omega. In Deadlocked, the Mega Weapons kept going up, simply, to V99. Once they reached level 99, weaponfire gained a 'rainbow' effect.
