*There was a rare glitch when you fought Dr. Nefarious. When you took up a quarter of his health, a cutscene appeared and he went off, but this glitch caused the cutscene to not show and made Dr. Nefarious just stand in the middle of the circle you were in and just laugh, making it very easy to beat Nefarious with just your [[Wrench]].

Template:CharacterboxDoctor Nefarious was the main antagonist in Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. He was a robotic mad scientist who hated organic lifeforms, despite formerly being one himself. It was said by Insomniac Games that he will return as the antagonist in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.

Overview

Soon, all robots will bask in the liberty and equality of my benevolent, iron-fisted rule! And, as for you filthy organic life forms... you can look forward to being disintegrated! Mwahahaaa!

Nefarious on Supervillain Weekly, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal

In high school, Nefarious had been constantly bullied and humiliated at the hands of Captain Qwark, who was 26 years old and three times Nefarious' size at the time. Later, Nefarious launched an amoeboid invasion on Blackwater City. Qwark confronted Nefarious on a narrow catwalk overlooking churning gears and machinery. Qwark accidentally knocked him off of the catwalk, after recognizing him from high school, into the spinning gears below. As Qwark made his escape, a robotic hand made its way out of the rubble.

Some time later, Dr. Nefarious attacked Metropolis with a massive hoard of Robotic Bugs that consumed various forms of matter. However, Qwark once again defeated him. But Nefarious captured Qwark after Lawrence saved him, and they imprisoned him in a secret facility. Qwark managed to escape to his hideout on the Thrann Asteroid, where he hid until Nefarious allegedly disappeared. He was secretly making plans for his next attack. In the events of Up Your Arsenal, tagging with Courtney Gears, who seems to be in love with him, and tended to by his servant Lawrence, Nefarious hatches a plan to turn all organic life into robots using the Bio-Bliterator, to convert everyone under his "benevolent, iron-fisted rule." He even tried to turn Clank over to his side, as he was a fanatic of the Secret Agent Clank series and believed them to be real. He even rejected Clank's assurance that the series was just an act. When Clank refused to join, Nefarious created Klunk, a sadistic look-alike who made things difficult for Ratchet. Later on, Ratchet and Clank were able to defeat the mad scientist by destroying the 2nd Bio-Bliterator, which was a pilotable mech, causing Nefarious and Lawrence to be stuck on an asteroid.

In Deadlocked, the duo made a cameo appearance after the destruction of DreadZone Station, where they had hoped to land.

Nefarious was mentioned in Tools of Destruction when in the Arena of Planet Mukow. Captain Qwark can be heard over the loud speaker saying: "Will a 'Dr. Nefarious' please report to the concession stand; we recovered your wallet."

At the end of Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, in the Breegus Nebula, Dr. Nefarious appeared in the room where Clank was being held. The Zoni refered to him as "the doctor". The familiar silhouette of him walked down the stairs into the room, but then he sliped on a feather duster which caused him to fall down the stairs. He then angrily called Lawrence. The game ended with Ratchet declaring that he will save Clank and the words "The quest continues in fall 2009". This meant that Nefarious will be the antagonist in the sequel.

Overload

Dr. Nefarious often had the strange habit of being overloaded in times of extreme stress, which would cause him to freeze, and simultaneously pick up radio signals about a soap opera via his head. He freezes at the end of The Shaming of the Q (of which case this glitch in him originated), three times in Up Your Arsenal, and again at the end of Deadlocked. Each time, he gets whacked on the head by either Lawrence or Courtney Gears. According to Lawrence, whacking Dr. Nefarious was always "the best part of his day."

Galactic Idol

Dr. Nefarious entered Galactic Idol with a song titled Crushin' on Squishies. He was eliminated on the first round and the single sold one copy which was used to torture prisoners on Ebaro.
