PlayStation Move Heroes (originally named Heroes on the Move) is a game for the PlayStation 3 that is a cross-franchise collaboration that utilises the PlayStation Move motion sensitive controllers and was released on March 22, 2011.[1][2] The game includes characters from three Sony franchises; Ratchet & Clank, Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper.[3][4]

Plot

A mysterious alien duo named Lunk & Gleeber has swept through the galaxy, fiendishly snatching entire chunks from the worlds explored by Ratchet, Jak and Sly to create a ring around a mysterious planet in a galaxy.

Metropolis is under attack by Tachyon's Drophyd forces. Ratchet and Clank are fighting a non-Drophyd Enforcer which is rampaging towards them. Clank suggests hitting the Enforcer's knee joint, which would trigger a chain reaction which in turn would disable the Enforcer's internal retro-formation modulator and offers to do it for Ratchet. Ratchet replies that he has got it, and, running at the Enforcer, throws his Omniwrench 8000 at it, hitting the knee joint.

The Enforcer's electrical shields remain active, knocking Ratchet back when he attempts to run at its front leg. The Enforcer then attempts to stand on Ratchet, but then stops in mid-step. Nearby, Clank taps at a piece of rubble which has seemingly frozen in mid-air, before being sucked into a wormhole that appears out of nowhere. Ratchet tries to pull Clank back, but is sucked into the wormhole with him.

After being abducted to this new world, Ratchet, Clank, Jak, Daxter, Sly and Bentley are invited by their gracious alien hosts, Gleeber and Lunk, to compete in friendly, yet challenging competition to test their extraordinary skills and see who is the best hero out of the six. These challenges will take place in replicas of the heroes' homecities - Metropolis, Haven City, and Paris.

The heroes soon meet the Whibbles, a small alien race who live on the planet and take part in the games. The Whibbles reveal that Gleeber and Lunk enslaved them, and forced them to mine their planet into its current hollow state in order to collect the crystals inside to power what appears initially to be a gun but later revealed to be a teleportation device.

Gleeber and Lunk reveal their plan shortly after - they have been watching the heroes with the intention of replacing them and receiving all the credit for what the heroes have done, after having killed the original heroes. The six heroes work together with the Whibbles to expose the main Evil Lunk Head which contains the more powerful crystals, which Daxter then destroys with a throwing disk.

Having stopped Gleeber and Lunk, the heroes imprison the duo in one of their own rockets and launch it into outer space. Bentley then tells them that the destruction of the Evil Lunk Head means the teleporter will not work anymore and that they cannot get home. The Whibbles then combine their energy to temporarily activate the teleporter, allowing the heroes to return home once more.

Ratchet and Clank return to Metropolis where they find themselves under the Enforcer's foot. As time returns to normal, the Enforcer starts moving again before stopping suddenly. Ratchet smiles at Clank and tells him "Never doubted ya for a second, pal."

Later in the same cutscene, Clank activates a communication device given to him by the Whibbles which then shows Bentley's face, and both start laughing. Daxter does not activate his, instead pushing it behind a rock so that he can relax.

Behind the scenes

Heroes on the Move

Current logo first appeared at E3

  • PlayStation Move Heroes, known then as Heroes on the Move, was first announced at E3 2010.
  • The game is made by Nihilistic Software, a company which has not made any of the franchise's previous games; however, Nihilistic was later made the developers of Resistance: Burning Skies, a first person shooter game for the Vita which was released on June 2012.

Trivia

  • Oddly, the game does not feature Murray from the Sly Cooper series. This is most likely due to the fact that each series has two characters, and Bentley is more like Sly's right-hand man. Because Murray is in jail and just before Sly breaks him out Bentley and Sly are sucked into the worm hole seen in the opening cinematic.
