The featured articles of the wiki are articles that represent the best the Ratchet & Clank wiki has to offer. For previously featured articles see the archive. Users who help bring an article to featured status will be given an award by administrators when the article is featured.
So just what makes a featured article? The following list explains the requirements.
An article must...
- ...be well written and detailed
- ...be unbiased, non-point of view
- ...be sourced with all available sources and appearances
- ...follow the manual of style
- ...not be the object of any ongoing edit wars
- ...not be tagged with any sort of improvement tags (i.e. more sources, expand, etc.)
- ...have a succinct proper lead that can be used for the front page featured box
- ...have a reasonable amount of red links; use common sense
- ...have a complete, detailed biography if it's a character article
- ...be over 1000 words long. This should not include templates, image captions or sources and references but may include sub-headings, lists, quotes and tables. If the article is close to 1000 words we will be flexible on this issue - so don't worry about counting every word before nominating the article! Articles that are not long enough might be applicable for good article status instead.
For more information on what makes a featured article, see Wikipedia:What is a featured article as a general guideline or contact an administrator.
How to nominate:
- First, nominate an article you find is worthy of featured status, putting it at the bottom of the list below; see criteria above.
- Others will object to the nomination if they disagree that the article is good enough; they will then supply reasons for doing so, and ways to improve the article (errors, style, organization, images, notability, sources).
- Supporters adjust the article until the objectors (with reasonable objections) are satisfied.
- The article is placed on the featured article list and added to the front page queue.
- A final requirement for the status is for at least 4 supporting votes (see "How to vote" below) and no objections. Once this criteria is met it will be added the queue, and will be officially known as a "featured article" on the first of the month it is to be featured.
Use the following code to add your nomination to the bottom of the page.
===[[Name of article]]=== '''Time of nomination:''' ~~~~~ <br /> '''Nominator:''' ~~~ ====Support (Number of supporting votes)==== ====Oppose (Number of opposing votes)==== ====Comments====
How to vote:
- Before doing anything, be sure to read the article completely, keeping a sharp eye out for mistakes.
- Afterwards, compare the article to the criteria listed above, and then either support or object the article's nomination. If objecting please state why and if you wish to point out a minor issue without opposing the nomination use the comments section or the nominee's discussion page.
- If you object, please supply concrete reasons for doing so, and how it can be improved.
- As stated above, any objections will be looked upon by the nominator, supporters, and anyone willing to improve the article, and action will be taken to please the objectors.
- When an article has +4 votes it will be added to the que - assuming all objections (given with reason) have been addressed. An administrator's vote counts as +2 towards nomination. If any administrator objects with reason then the nomination cannot be added to the que until the problem is resolved.
Also remember to add {{nominated}} at the top of the discussion article attached to the article you are nominating.
The first of every month the next article in the queue will be highlighted on the Main Page as featured and removed from the que. The beginning or lead section of the article appears on the Main Page via the {{featured article}} template. Nominees that are inactive for a month may be eliminated from the nominations list. Upcoming featured articles can be seen on the featured article que. Once an article is added to the que it received featured status and {{featured}} is placed on the article.
