The manual of style is an official guide as to how an article should be written and the styling conventions used. Feel free to discuss the content on the discussion page.
An editing guide for specific content such as the Ratchet & Clank Manga or whether to use QForce or Q-Force is available in the contextual style guide. The Ratchet & Clank Collection policy page and Ratchet & Clank movie policy may also be useful.

Summary
Edit
The Ratchet & Clank wiki accepts content that is:
- Official and canonical information only.
- NOT fanon or non-canon information (unless the entire article is devoted to a non-canon subject).
- NOT speculation, not even an author's speculation.
- Written from an neutral and factual in-universe viewpoint and in the past tense (keep gaming tips to a separate section/article).
Editing style
Edit
This a brief list of editing tips you should follow when editing sections:
- Don't abbreviate words, or article titles. If they're referred to as an acronym in the game, but the game reveals what it stands for then don't title the article with the acronym.
- Write in a neutral and factual point of view.
- Don't include original research - instead follow our sourcing policy.
Exceptions and other specific guidelines
Edit
For information on styling specific articles, characters and for exceptions (such as the styling of QForce/Q-Force) see the contextual style guide.
Ratchet &/and Clank!
Edit
Ratchet & Clank is the name of a title, so Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando not Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando. If Ratchet and Clank go to Veldin then it is not a title and the symbol "&" should not be used - Ratchet and Clank went to Veldin. For other specific guidelines see the contextual style guide.

Article names
Edit
The first usage of the article name in the introduction section should be in bold.
Links
Edit
Links should link directly to their target page using [[Article target|displayed link]] to change the styling of the link. Linking to a redirect is permitted but not encouraged - be careful to ensure the link goes to the correct article. Also take care to avoid linking to a disambiguation template unintentionally.
Use # in the link to link to an article section. For example Ratchet#Appearances.
Point of view
Edit
In-universe
Edit
Most articles are written from an in-universe neutral perspective. The game's do not exist in universe and should not be referred to in these sections (but may be used for section headings).
Real-world
Edit
Real-world, or out-of-universe articles such as articles on voice actors, games and comics should be written from a real-life neutral point of view. The tense should generally present and used as appropriate (think Wikipedia entries) for the context of the article.
Grammar and spelling
Edit
Content submitted to the Ratchet & Clank wiki must be in coherent English. Spellings and titles are taken from the NTSC (North America) version of the game. Other variations can be mentioned in the behind the scenes section.
American English is the preferred format but minor spelling variations should be accepted (although ideally they will be changed to American spellings).
Capitalization
Edit
Don't capitalize words mid-sentence unless they are names, or grammatically, they should be capitalized (like I, not i). This includes links. An example of how to do this with a link is: The article Armor Magnetizer is shown there how it is titled, with a capital A in armor and a capital M in magnetizer. Grammatically the title should be armor magnetizer, but as it's a title it isn't. Unless the link starts a sentence, then the a should not be a capital in normal articles, to link correctly you type this: [[Armor Magnetizer|armor magnetizer]] and it will show as armor magnetizer which is how it should be, and the link won't be broken or an unneeded redirect.
Species should always be capitalized on the Ratchet & Clank wiki, even mid-sentence.
Italics
Edit
In addition to more standard italicization such as game titles, song titles, film titles etc., in-universe spaceships names should be in italics.
Tense
Edit
The in-universe tense should be the past tense. The events must be in the past tense as they have already occurred to be recorded from an in-universe perspective. While this is still debated on the wiki we currently ask that all in-universe content be written in the past tense for consistency.
