The RYNO IV or Rip You A New One four was a super weapon that had been banned in fifty-nine galaxies. It was powerful enough to have a galactic law, stating that anyone mentioning the weapon could be put in jail for a long time. Unlike its predecessors, the RYNO IV was not a missile launcher, but nevertheless dealt the most damage of any weapon in the game. When fired, the RYNO IV charged for a fraction of a second, and then launched a fleet of long-range homing lasers at an incredibly rapid rate that sought out and vaporized all obstacles around the user almost instantly.

Ratchet obtained the RYNO IV by collecting the full Holo-Plan of the RYNO IV's blueprint, which was separated into thirteen pieces, and returning them to the Smuggler on the planet Sargasso.

[edit] Upgrades

When upgraded to level five, it was renamed as the RYNO IV Extreme. Once the Omega version was bought at a hefty price of 50,000,000 bolts it was automatically levelled up to V6, renaming it the Omega RYNO 4-Ever. When it reached VX, it sported a maximum ammo capacity of 900, each laser dealing 5,141 damage each, rendering it as the most powerful weapon in the entire RYNO series, due to the fact that if all 900 rounds of ammo were used up, the resulting amount was 4,626,900 damage.

[edit] Behind the Scenes

The RYNO IV was often criticized by many players for being vastly overpowered, as it could destroy the last boss of the game, Emperor Tachyon, in a few seconds. Also, it was often considered unreliable, as its targeting system didn't always work while moving; a lot of lasers would scatter all over the place not properly connecting with enemies and could, over time, end up wasting a lot of ammo.

The RYNO IV probably inspired the new design for the bullseye in Resistance 2, as they both had the spikes on the body and could home in on targets.
