The Ratchet & Clank Movie Announcement Teaser is a teaser trailer released on 23 April, 2013 by Sony PlayStation via YouTube to announce the Ratchet & Clank movie. The teaser was written by TJ Fixman, Senior Writer at Insomniac Games and writer for the Ratchet & Clank movie. The teaser was the number one trending video on YouTube.
The trailer opens on Captain Qwark, who is attempting to read through a promotional statement for the new Ratchet & Clank movie. After a short time, he says "I can't do this anymore," leading the director off-screen to cut the footage, at which point Ratchet and Clank walk in. Ratchet advises Qwark to "sound out the big words" like he'd practiced, to which Qwark responds that "There's nothing here," and pushing the screen behind him over, asks "Where's the eye-popping 3D, the CG explosions? Where's the dubstep?" In the process he picks Ratchet up, before accidentally throwing him across the studio.
Clank replies that everybody in the studio is busy working on the "Ratchet & Clank Movie", which causes Qwark to question why the team didn't spend some more time giving the trailer a bit of 'pizazz' and calls them 'lazy'. Ratchet warns him not to anger "such a talented team of animators" which Qwark scorns, asking "What'll they do, stop animating?"
The animator's menu appears on screen and Qwark is selected, removing the character's render and instead showing Qwark in pre-production format with a wire-frame matrix superimposed over his body. Qwark tells the viewers "Don't look!" while Ratchet grabs Clank's copy of the promo script and attempts to cover Qwark's body with this in order to prevent any kids watching from seeing anything they shouldn't.
The animator opens a Quick Select menu and selects a Groovitron, causing Qwark to start dancing, initially in a disco style before moving on to fist pumping, which both Ratchet and Clank find funny, before shifting to a more techno-dance beat. Clank suggests to Qwark that "Perhaps you should apologise," and Qwark does so which leads to the animator removing the Groovitron and then adding the Metropolis stage background in place of the animation studio along with a Ratchet & Clank logo.
Qwark takes all the pride for this and starts making a long-winded comment about how two adversaries can put aside their "petty squabbles" when the animator drops the logo on Qwark, knocking him down and causing Ratchet and Clank to jump back. Qwark gasps "I'm…calling…my…agent," and then drops flat, to which Ratchet responds "Never mess with the animators."
