Ratchet & Clank wiki:IRC meetings
From Ratchet & Clank wiki
IRC meetings are when users meet on the IRC to discuss specific issues and proposals about the Ratchet & Clank wiki. Users can add anything that may affect the whole community or any ideas they have to the agenda below, even if they cannot make the meeting. When the agenda is long enough an IRC meeting will be held at a time and date voted on by users. Transcripts are kept for the IRC meetings to serve as records and so users who missed the meeting can read what happened, the transcripts can be found below. Transcripts are normally recorded by Hunterj's bot HunterG-88, please see Ratchet & Clank wiki:IRC for further information about the bot. For information about the IRC itself and help on accessing our channel please see Ratchet & Clank wiki:IRC.

[edit] Suggestions
Please review the agenda and make your own timing estimates. It should be quicker than previous meetings as many users will have already attended a meeting before. You don't have to attend the whole meeting, and likewise you can arrive late if necessary. We would like as many people as possible to attend. It is strongly recommended that a time suitable for Hunterj is selected as he will most likely run the meeting, the meeting will only take place if at least one administrator can be present. Please give your times in UTC, and mention a date.
- The weekend of January 2nd (sat) /3rd (sun). Times, early or later in UTC? Hunterj

- 9 pm UTC or later by maximum 2 hours or 9 am UTC or later by 4 hours at the most. // Nifky° 12:49, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
- I'm thinking 3rd of January, early UTC. I'm guessing this will ensure people to come. Somewhere around noon. TIGERNOSE

[edit] Agenda
Feel free to add topics here.
- Manga canon - Ratchet & Clank Manga, where does it fit in with the storyline, I'm assuming it's canon as I don't think it contradicts with anything. It's publication date would possibly be useful. In reference to this section. Hunterj

Hunterj's Resort 19:55, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
- YouTube videos as sources - one YouTube video used as a source for Space Exploration has been removed due to copyright violation or something. The problem is we don't know which video that was so we can't replace the source. Also the only way to check videos still exist is to check each link individually. I think we should not allow YouTube videos to be sources except from when they are from official users like InsomniacGames or Sony. Existing videos should be replaced to articles containing the video on gaming sites or videos on gaming sites. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 11:54, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- Intergalactic Crime Fighting 101 - should this be considered canon? Video:Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time - Super Villain Trailer. It's obviously a promo video but it's set in an in-universe style? Maybe we should make an article about it, stick a template at the top saying it may not be part of the storyline and then include the promo info in the trivia section. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 19:06, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
- Out of universe content - I was wondering if we could have more out of universe content and pages. We already have pages like PS3 or Insomniac Games, but I was thinking stuff like notable, separate trailers could have their own articles, and things like Comic Con could have their own articles. There's a lot of R&C related content in that, but I don't know where to put it. Should we have more pages like this or not? TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 19:33, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
- Skill points - Ratchet: Deadlocked skill point locations, I think it should be just Ratchet: Deadlocked skill points personally, they're not items to collect they are 'skills' to complete. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 18:15, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
Trophy List - This page list the trophies in ACiT. Cool, eh? We need to use this is some way. Should we make articles on all of the trophies? Where should we list them? What can we do with them? This would have been great in the ACiT meeting... TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 16:51, October 4, 2009 (UTC)- Image policy - Currently, our policy gives uploaders 24 hours to provide a source and/or license for any image they upload without one before it can be deleted. I'd like the make this 24 hours warning optional. It's in bold, red lettering to provide a source on the upload page and I don't see why we should have to wait 24 hours to delete an image. The user can always re-upload it. I do think users should be notified if their image is deleted and why though. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 10:48, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- Clank's name - Not that it has been revealed that Clank's real name is XJ-0461, should we use it as the name of the article? HiQuTalk to me! 18:11, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
- Forums - I don't think we have a system for creating forums for general discussion of aspects of the Ratchet & Clank universe, I think we should set one up to keep this away form the talk pages of mainspace articles. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 22:47, October 24, 2009 (UTC)
- Article and image request pages - I think we should have a page for article and image requests. The wanted pages are good for articles needing creation but sometimes articles need creating but aren't linked to, or creation of the articles needs discussion. Also, image requests are useful for specific requests and for use on pages already with an image, where {{image needed}} wont be appropriate. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 23:26, October 31, 2009 (UTC)
- Zoni Homeworld - People seem to be ignoring me on this and whenever I change it someone reverts it, but it seems extremely unlikely, even in the R&C universe, that a facility (Great Clock) could be the birthplace of an entire species, especially a species which is said to have built said facility. Also, the Great Clock being the Zoni's homeworld is speculation, yet it is considered canon on this wiki, it's misinformation, yet whenever I change it, it gets changed back. Drophyd167b 13:43, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
Dating System - Perhaps we could come up with some sort of non-canon dating system to help with the wiki. Drophyd167b 13:50, November 2, 2009 (UTC)- Moon Infobox - Because the significance of moons in ACiT, we need someone to design an infobox for each moon article. I have a clear idea of which fields should be included. TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 18:28, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
Sigmund/Sigma-0426A - Shouldn't he be called his real name? (Drophyd167b, having trouble signing in) 86.30.35.190 12:49, November 14, 2009 (UTC)Ratchet - As we don't know his real name, but know that Ratchet isn't his real name, a template needs to go in the article to say that the title of the article isn't his real name, problem is I don't know what exactly to do, as it's not really a nickname/callsign/alias, so what sort of template would go up and does it need one? (Drophyd167b, having trouble signing in) 86.30.35.190 12:49, November 14, 2009 (UTC)- Challenge Mode - Can it be considered canon? I mean Challenge Mode is a gameplay mode, much like the multiplayer modes in UYA/DL, they're in the game but they aren't really canon, when, say, in-universe Ratchet beat Nefarious and the Biobliterator, he didn't really go back in time slightly more powerful, he went on and eventually became Captain of the Starship Phoenix. The same goes for armour and other stuff that is only available in challenge mode, they can't actually be canon, can they? Drophyd167b 15:22, November 14, 2009 (UTC)
Biography sections - Compare the Ratchet article to the Nefarious article, in the Ratchet article the biography sections are labelled under the name of the game that that part of his life appeared in, whereas the Neffy article has it based on in-universe events, the Ratchet article needs to be like the Neffy article in that respect, as do all articles like the Ratchet article. Drophyd167b 22:02, November 14, 2009 (UTC)In Tools of Destruction... - Anything like this in an article NEEDS to go, it needs to be replaced with in-universe things, like, say, in the Nefarious and Lawrence articles I've replaced Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time with things like "Ratchets' search for Clank", this is what we need to be doing in every part of an article apart from the "Appearances" and the "Trivia"/"Behind the Scenes" section. Drophyd167b 22:02, November 14, 2009 (UTC)- Nefarious - I think we should discuss what quote should be used at the top of the page, it has been changed many times. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 21:23, November 21, 2009 (UTC)
- 'Crate name - There is this crate in A Crack in Time, that significantly bigger than other crates and looks orange. When breaking it, it provides bolts and ammo. What shall we call this crate? TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 20:12, November 23, 2009 (UTC)
- Skill points - we should have some sort of guide on the easiest/easier ways to complete these, maybe for some of the trophies as well. Should we have a section on each skill point page for this, a walkthrough article for each skill point page or some sort of guide for each game's skill points linked to the skill point location links? Hunterj

If you want to talk about an agenda topic add a new section below with it's digit, however it is best to save things for the meeting if possible. If you are not going to be able to make the meeting, feel free to give your input and opinions here, but you cannot vote on any topics requiring a vote unless you attend.

- Hm... I'm on the fence with this. It seems like a Holo-vision show, and probably something that would be watched in the Ratchet universes, but then again: all it is - is just a basis for a new trailer. I wouldn't make it have its own article as it practically is a trailer in itself, but I would reference it in one of the articles. TIGERNOSE

Yes, but you can say the same about the other skill points in other games when it isn't a location. Then again, you are correct but I just think it would look uneven in a list. TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 20:58, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
- I meant the name of the page, and all other skill point locations pages. I think their names should be changed from skill point locations to skill points. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 21:03, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I know that, I was just saying that having one skill point page having a different name from the others looks uneven. TIGERNOSE

I think this should be struck from the agenda, we have an article about trophies and we should have individual articles for each trophy, with tips on how to get some of them on separate walkthrough pages when and if appropriate. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 16:21, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
- Articles already made, struck from agenda. Hunterj

- Hunterj meant to say that the 24 hour warning should be deleted, not optional out of the policy. This means administators can delete any image at any time, provided that they provide a notification and reason. But before that happens, they have a warning to provide a source or licence first without any deadlines. // Nifky° 13:07, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

While I think we should, I doubt this will be passed as we thought that we knew Clanks 'real' name before, and the community decided against it. Now we've found his actual 'real' name, we should probably vote on this again. Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 22:32, October 24, 2009 (UTC)
- The sheer usage of Clank in the game titles and practically in every single piece of dialogue in the game (apart from Orvus') overwhelmes the usage of his "real name", so it would be unorthodox to change the name IMO. TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 23:14, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

- I agree that it should be changed, we know now his name and the name should not be a nick name when we know his real name, the same goes for Sigmund, speaking of witch, should I create another agenda about Sigmund's real name or can that be covered in this agenda? Drophyd167b 18:26, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
- I'm actually against the change. It would lower our google rankings for Clank too much. HiQuTalk to me! 19:01, December 1, 2009 (UTC)

- This will probably sound quite stupid, but wouldn't there be a re-direct page from Clank to XJ-0461? Surely it wouldn't make much difference? Drophyd167b 19:38, December 1, 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but then again we could always change the title of the article (not the article name) to XJ0461, so I'd rather not have a name change. Maybe after ACiT has been out for a long time (it's been two months only), we could consider it, but some people don't know that's his real name and will probably get confused. TIGERNOSE

- Well there would be a picture of Clank there and the article would say "mainly known as Clank", but I suppose not everyone would have the common sense to check. Drophyd167b 18:05, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
- Per HiQu. Also it makes more sense for the article to be the best known name - Clank, and then list his aliases in bold after his name, e.g. ' Clank, also known as XJ0461.... '. Secondly XJ0461 and all other aliases should redirect to Clank. // Nifky° 08:36, December 4, 2009 (UTC)

I doubt the Zoni homeworld was the Great Clock, because they existed before it was made (hence they made the Clock). The Zoni homeworld is speculation and should be kept unknown for the moment. TIGERNOSE

I don't get this. Dating for what? TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 18:28, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
- A dating system for the games, as in an un-official timeline, sorta like the Star Wars ABY/BBY timeline, although that is official, it would need to be classed as non-canon, but it could help the wiki.(Or not, but it seems like an idea that could work) Drophyd167b 15:37, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- Oh okay. I was actually thinking of something similar, but it's non-canon and it might lead to visitors believing it's true. Too risky and innacurate, but we could try something less non-canon - if you know what I mean. TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 16:56, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

- Not really, but then again that's what the meetings are for. Drophyd167b 18:03, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
I've decided to take it away, it would require far too much guesswork to create a significant Year 0, the end of the Great War would be a good one, but we're not even sure when that was, after ToD it seemed that it was hundreds of years before the games, but Azimuth's flashback scene in ACiT seems to suggest that he was alive in the Great War, and seeing as we don't know how long Lombax lifespans are/Azimuth's age, the idea was destined for chaos. (Drophyd167b, having trouble signing in) 86.30.35.190 12:09, November 14, 2009 (UTC)
- According to Jak X, Ratchet is somewhere around 20, which means that the Great War is at least 20 years before ACiT. That's my two cents though :p TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 20:12, November 23, 2009 (UTC)
- But was Ratchet born soon after the war? Or was he born hundreds of years after? It would take too much guesswork and it wouldn't be credible, even though it would be unofficial. Drophyd167b 15:33, November 24, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] 29
- Because Sigmund isn't so major, we could change the article's name - yes, but keep Sigmund bolded. Sigmund actually calls himself by his real name, but Clank doesn't. TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 15:51, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
- I've struck it off, it doesn't really need discussing, I'll change it myself soon Drophyd167b 13:42, December 20, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] 30
- It doesn't need one in my opinion. I'm working on the principal that no one wants to rename the article Clank, even though we know his real name... Hunterj
Hunterj's Resort 21:23, November 21, 2009 (UTC)
- We don't need a template to do that, it serves no purpose. It already says in the text. TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 15:51, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll strike it off Drophyd167b 19:39, December 1, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] 32
- I'm kind of leaning towards disagreeing with this, making it with game name sections is probably easier to navigate about, because the R&C series is so linear but vast. Forum:Biography is colliding with this though, it's also on the agenda. TIGERNOSE
(Headquarters|Products|Apartment) 15:51, November 22, 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, didn't realise this, I'll strike it off. Drophyd167b 13:19, December 20, 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps the guide has a name for this. Does anyone have the ACiT strategy guide to check? Drophyd167b 20:01, December 1, 2009 (UTC)
