If you have clicked on a symbol like this: [source?] read the following information before the line.
The symbol you clicked on links to this page which is a guide on how to provide citations for articles. The symbol is there to signify that the sentence before that symbol requires a source. To add a source read below, if you do not wish to add a source, use the back button on your browser to return to the article you were on.

This page explains how to use references to source sentences on the Ratchet & Clank wiki. It is essential to source as much as possible for several reasons:

  1. To prove the information is correct and reliable.
  2. To allow users to check the credibility of information
  3. To avoid disputes between editors.
  4. To credit any original authors and avoid plagiarism.

Other articles on the Ratchet & Clank wiki are not acceptable sources. It is acceptable to link to an article about a game (doesn't have to be a game, used as an example) as long as the source referred to is the game itself, not the article about the game.

[edit] How to reference an article

[edit] Single reference

To give a reference to one source for only one point in the article, do the following and see the "Making the references list appear" section below. On the edit page, place this at the insertion point of citation (after punctuation at the end of a sentence):

<ref>''[[Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction]]''</ref>

A small number in small square brackets should appear which, when clicked on, links to the source given in a list at the end of the page.

Note: You may need to remove the {{Fact}} from an article if you are providing a source for an article in the Articles needing citation category.

[edit] Multiple insertion of the same reference

On the edit page, this is placed at the first insertion point of the citation:

<ref name=Tools of Destruction>''[[Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction]]''</ref>

This is placed at the second and all later insertion points of the same citation:

<ref name=Tools of Destruction />

[edit] Making the references list appear

Add the following code on the relevant place on the layout guide which is after the "Sources" and "External links" bu before the Stub template and categories.

==Notes and references==
{{Reflist}}

[edit] Long reference lists

For reference lists with fifteen or more different references, include the <references /> tag in a scroll box, using the following code:

==Notes and references==
{{Scroll box
|content=
{{Reflist}}
}}
