My Blaster Runs Hot was a weapon contest for A Crack in Time that took place between March 27, 2009 and April 10, 2009.[1] Five finalists were chosen and announced on April 17, 2009; they were held up for voting.[2] The winner was announced at the Comic-Con 2009 event, on the 23rd of July. The winning weapon was the Spiral of Death.[3][4]
Finalists[]
Spiral of Death[]
Plasma Sprinkler Glove[]
The Plasma Sprinkler Glove is a weapon designed by a Ratchet & Clank fan in the Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time weapon contest. It was one of the five finalists given to the public to vote on.[2] The weapon was originally designed as a weed killer; however, it was eventually banned. The glove is used to throw a grenade shaped item, which then turns into a sprinkler that fires plasma.[5]
Bubble Shot[]
The Bubble Shot is a weapon designed by a Ratchet & Clank fan for the Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time weapon contest. It was one of the five finalists given to the public to vote on.[2] The Bubble Shot fires corrosive bubbles. Smaller bubbles that move quickly can be created using small amounts of ammo or larger; slower moving bubbles can be made which use up more ammo and cause much more damage.[6]
The bubble shot is very similar in game mechanics and aesthetics to the in-game Dynamo of Doom/Dynamo of Devastation weapons, which charges up shots that use more ammo, do more damage and are larger than a single button press, only they use electricity rather than bubbles of acid.
Qwark Machine[]
The Qwark Machine is a weapon designed by a Ratchet & Clank fan in the Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time weapon contest. It was one of the five finalists given to the public to vote on.[2] The weapon is actually a glove that the user wears. It can fire small balls that release small Qwarks. The weapon has an upgrade system, with level one using a blaster, level two burping gas, level three choking enemies and using bare hands and level four eating the enemy.[7]
Super-Sized Sticky Hand Toy[]
The Super-Sized Sticky Hand Toy is a weapon designed by a Ratchet & Clank fan in the Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time weapon contest. It was one of the five finalists given to the public to vote on.[2] The planned use of the Super-Sized Sticky Hand Toy was to be slapping enemies or, if used in a different mode, wrapping around them and allowing the user to throw the enemy around using the SIXAXIS motion sensitive controller.[8]
Trivia[]
- The original picture of Qwark standing on the destroyed robot, can be found in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, after getting all of the skill points in the game. In the original version, Qwark is not holding a gun and a big robot with blades is behind him.
