Swimming was the action of moving through a liquid substance such as water. If a being ran out of oxygen to breathe due to being underwater while swimming and were starting to breathe in the liquid, they would be drowning. To prevent drowning, some beings would either hold their breath for a certain amount of time or use a device like the O2 Mask to provide them with oxygen while underwater. At one point, Ratchet obtained the O2 Mask which he used to easily swim underwater.
