The Smuggler was a some sort of outlaw who sold various black market goods, and was always accompanied by his pet parrot. He was glad to help anyone, for a fee—he required some "monetary compensation," as he called it, or a favor in return. The Smuggler was also fond of Leviathan Souls, and would exchange them for bolts.

Edit
The Smuggler worked out a deal that if Ratchet and Clank got the gel plant running again, which was shut down by Tachyon, he would give them a ride off the planet Kortog. When they got to Stratus City, he dumped them out of his ship to save himself from being vaporized by a detection system that detected Ratchet because he was a Lombax. Later in the game the duo encountered the Smuggler on the Apogee Space Station who traded them the launch code to the shuttle for Leviathan Souls. Later on Rykan V he sold them the Gyro-cycle for 5000 bolts. On Sargasso he traded them the Decrypter for more souls. The Smuggler also built the RYNO IV for the duo in return for its schematics.
Quest for Booty
Edit

Added by Lombax JerkRatchet encountered the Smuggler on Merdegraw in Quest for Booty, who sold him a bolt crank component, took him to Darkwater Cove (for a fee, of course), returned Ratchet's missing Predator Launcher and Nano-Swarmers, and sold the Alpha Disruptor back to him.
A Crack in Time
Edit
The Smuggler also appeared in A Crack in Time, where when Ratchet found him in space, gave him side quests. Ratchet could also give him the Holo-Plans for the RYNO V, the most powerful weapon in the game. If Ratchet gave him the full holo-plan, he would build the weapon for him.
All 4 One
Edit
The Smuggler was mentioned in All 4 One. After A Crack in Time, he went to planet Magnus at one point and sold the RYNO V plans to Dr. Croid, who modified it and built the RYNO VI.

Edit
- For an unknown reason the Smuggler appeared smaller in A Crack in Time than in Tools of Destruction.[source?] It's possible that Insomniac wanted to make him a more "realistic" size compared to Ratchet.
- Though not confirmed, the Smuggler bears some similarity to the Australian character "Crocodile" Dundee, with the hat sporting crocodile teeth and the big knife he carries around with him.
- Though his species has not been confirmed, the Smuggler bears a similarity to the Tharpods.
- He once won a Blargian Roulette game against Captain Slag for the little red parrot he had (he claims it almost cost him his one good eye).
- The Smuggler actually has both of his eyes. He lifts his eyepatch in Tools of Destruction, and his eyepatch is occasionally seen on the other eye.
- You could say he is like shady salesman and Slim Cognito .
